What you will do:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Enforcement Administration & Customer Service, your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provide excellent front-line customer service via telephone, e-mail and front counter by promptly responding to inquiries and complaints and recording in AMANDA database
- Provide information to the public on City of Waterloo regulatory by-laws and promote compliance
- Provide investigating officers with complaint information and assistance as required
- Process and administer parking tickets and forward reminder notices to registered owners of vehicles related to outstanding parking tickets
- Complete screenings and assist with hearings under the Administrative Monetary Penalties program
- Process and administer and approve license applications and payments, and record in database
- Process, administer and approve sign permit applications and payments, and record in database
- Provide administrative support to the division, including but not limited to: minute taking, maintaining web pages, compiling statistics, maintaining automated telephone line, ordering office supplies and uniforms, preparing documentation and mailings, and assisting in preparation of ads and educational materials
- Assist in planning and organizing meetings for staff, committee members and public meetings
- Complete Freedom of Information requests/searches as received
- Other duties as assigned
What you will bring:
- Post-secondary education in business administration, paralegal studies or related field with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a customer service or administrative office environment with municipal, legal and/or licensing experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Ability to interact with the public, elected officials, and other parties in a positive, professional and confidential manner
- Knowledge of City by-laws would be considered an asset
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to respond effectively and promptly to requests from members of the public
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks and changing priorities within a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); previous experience with the AMANDA system would be an asset
- A passion for promoting and maintaining a healthy and safe workplace and the ability to work respectfully and effectively in a team environment
- Strong commitment to delivering quality customer service

What we will require:
- A Police Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check satisfactory to the City
- Proof of your current and valid certificate(s), licenses and/or educational qualifications, if applicable
